Throughout winter I'm constantly amazed watching all the little birds feeding voraciously in the morning and also right before dusk, then sheltering into place among the branches to fluff up and conserve heat by trapping warm air between their feathers. Then, when it snows, there is a stillness as they just sit and let the snow fall around them. These frigid days of watching the birds from my window, inspired this little piece of an American tree sparrow.
