Of all the beautiful birds one can find in the wetlands of South Carolina, I was thrilled to see a pair of wood storks last year as this is a species I have never seen up close. One might argue they are no match for the grace of the egrets or the color of the roseate spoonbills, but there is a sense of mystery about them that is fascinating. I took a lot of shots of them in various poses, but this side profile just seemed "right". I accidentally overexposed the feathers in my shot, so they were just a blown out white blur. This meant I had to recreate some value and definition in my artwork which I hope was successful.
