This past winter season delivered a bounty of evening grosbeaks to my door, and they are still around! I caught this female sitting alone resting away from the frenzy of the flock as if she just needed a break from it all (who can relate lol). This was a pleasant little board to work on that gave me a bit of a break after the challenging loon piece. When it comes to dimorphism in birds I sometimes choose to depict the less brightly colored females over males, especially if they have more patterning in the plumage, which lends itself well to this achromatic medium.
